A shutdown is a planned production stop used to perform work that cannot be done while running: regulatory inspection, equipment replacement, piping and vessel repair, mechanical overhaul and upgrades. Every hour of overrun costs production, so staffing the right trades on time is critical.
How many workers can ATS Métal mobilize for a turnaround?+
From a few reinforcements up to crews of 40 to 60 workers — CWB welders, pipefitters, industrial mechanics (millwrights), welder helpers, fitters and supervisors — on 10 or 12-hour shifts, days and nights, 7 days a week.
How fast can a shutdown crew be on site?+
24 to 72 hours in Quebec's main industrial regions, and 3 to 7 days for remote FIFO sites. For planned turnarounds we reserve and pre-qualify the crew weeks in advance so headcount is guaranteed on day one.
Do you handle unplanned emergency shutdowns?+
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7. After a major breakdown we mobilize the first available welders and mechanics within 24 hours depending on the region, then scale the crew in the following days.
Which certifications do your shutdown workers hold?+
CWB W47.1 / W47.2 for welders, ASME B31.1 and B31.3 procedure qualifications for pressure piping, ASP Construction, CCQ competency cards where required, WHMIS, confined space, working at heights and lockout training — all verified before arrival on site.
